Like everything in life, if done without the proper safety measures and methodology, it can be dangerous. This is why taking lessons with a proper and capable school reduces the risk considerably.
The aspects we must take into account are the following:
- Equipment conditions: It must be finely tuned (kite and bar condition) with all safety systems functioning properly.
- Spot characteristics: Potential risks, for example: nearby poles, trees, roads, airports, rocks, wind shadows, etc.
- Amount of people at the spot: There is traffic just like when driving; an excessively crowded spot increases the risk of getting tangled.
- Wind conditions: Ideally, it should be steady, with no variations in speed, and a direction that does not blow offshore.
- Safety gear: Helmet, flotation vest, radios.

The instructor will foresee any risky situations (wrong movements, spot irregularities, and the current traffic). You just focus on reaching your goal, we take care of the rest!
